The birth house of Antonio Rosmini
The birth house of Antonio Rosmini is a solemn treasure chest of memories and doctrine, and a reality unknown, even to many of the citizens of Rovereto.
At a time when neither MART, nor Depero House Museum, nor the War Museum had opened their doors, Casa Rosmini was already ahead of its time with a huge collection of paintings, prints and drawings.
Alessandro Manzoni defines the Blessed Rosmini as “one of the five or six greatest intelligences that humanity has produced in centuries.” For Rosmini, there is something of the divine also in man.
“In the meantime, here we have fun in companionship and amusement with books” – A. Rosmini. The Blessed Rosmini inherited his great passion for books from his uncle Ambrogio. He lived in the Rovereto of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, which was a strategic center for the production of silk fabrics.
Today, it’s possible to breathe and grasp the spirit of Rosmini just by walking in the center of the city of Rovereto in the current Street of the Earth ‘Contrada della terra’.
Visiting the birthplace of Antonio Rosmini, where the Rosminian fathers are available for guided tours, you can discover the rooms of his family home and the rich and prestigious library. Right in front of Casa Rosmini, stands a beautiful and imposing monument in the center of a small garden that the city of Rovereto has dedicated to one of its most illustrious sons.
To book guided tours, contact the following telephone number: 0464-431427. The building can be accessed both from Corso Rosmini (number 28), the main street of Rovereto, and from via Stoppani (number 3), one of the pedestrian access roads leading to the historic city center.
